heat pump split

The New Brunswick government will spend an additional $40 million on energy efficiency programs for homeowners.
The funding is being used to improve the energy efficiency of homes in response to rising energy prices as part of the province’s expanded energy conservation plan.
Half of the money will help homeowners move away from oil-burning stoves for heating, the energy secretary said.
The other half will go to a program that provides free mini-split heat pumps in homes with electric baseboard heaters.
“We’ve worked closely to make sure there’s a network of qualified contractors, and made sure they know that if they’re qualified contractors – and there are many of them – they can get involved,” Energy Secretary Mike Holland said.
“We never imagined this would be a bottleneck limiting our ability, we have taken some steps and now there are over 30 different contractors in this qualified network.”
The provincial government said that homeowners with the same income level and an alternative heat source are eligible for free insulation upgrades.
It says residents can save about $500 a year by installing a mini split heat pump and better insulation.
