The Hogarth Bishops Catholic Education Trust has been awarded £509,645 for two projects to decarbonise St Gregory’s Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees and Carmel College in Darlington.Air source heat pumps will be installed at both schools, and Carmel College’s energy efficiency will be improved by installing LED lighting, thermal insulation and energy efficient ventilation fans.
Durham County Council has been awarded £5,174,666 for five projects to install air source heat pumps at Peterlee Leisure Centre, Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, Teesdale Leisure Centre, Wolsingham Leisure Centre and the Comeleon House office building.Solar panels will also be installed in all 4 leisure centres.A range of energy efficiency measures will be installed at the factory, including building energy management systems, LED lighting, high-efficiency air handling units and improvements to heating distribution ducts.
Northumberland County Council was awarded £148,210 to replace existing fossil fuel boilers with ground source heat pumps at Whittingham First School and the Aesca House office building.
Barnsley Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £3,729,764 to replace gas boilers with air source heat pumps at Barnsley Hospitals.In addition, the energy efficiency of the hospital will be improved by installing double glazing, roof insulation and building energy management systems.
The Beckfoot Trust was awarded £623,569 to replace an existing gas boiler with a ground source heat pump at Beckfoot Thornton School in Bradford.
Bradford Metropolitan District Council has been awarded £374,767 to decarbonise the Buckden House Outdoor Education Centre.The building’s existing oil-fired boilers will be replaced by biomass boilers, and the building’s energy efficiency will be improved through the installation of a building energy management system and improved heating distribution piping.
Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council has been awarded £1,728,500 to decarbonise the swimming pool at the Todmorden Sports Centre.The existing heating system will be replaced by an air source heat pump and rooftop solar panels will be installed to generate renewable energy.The hot water distribution system will also be improved to increase the energy efficiency of the sports center.
The Diocese of Leeds has been awarded £354,418 to decarbonise the Voluntary Aid Primary School for South Crossland Church in England by replacing existing oil fired boilers with air source heat pumps.
The Inquire Learning Trust was awarded £310,393 to replace an existing oil fired boiler with an air source heat pump at Buckingham Primary School.
Leeds City Council has been awarded £4,335,357 to decarbonise six primary schools, two children’s centres, an elderly day centre and St George’s Community Centre.At all locations, existing fossil fuel systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy.The energy efficiency of one of the elementary schools, Qishan Elementary School, will also be improved by installing attic insulation and a building energy management system.
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been awarded £9,296,722 to reduce carbon emissions at St James’s Hospital.Fossil fuel heating will be removed from a number of buildings within the hospital, including the Leeds Cancer Centre, the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre and the Thackeray Medical Museum, which will be connected to the council-owned district heating network.Some buildings will also have roof insulation, wind protection and double glazing to improve energy efficiency.
The Ministry of Justice has been awarded £3,538,164 to install thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at the Leeds Union Court Centre and Leeds Magistrates Court.The two courthouses will be connected to Leeds PIPES, an established district heating scheme, and will increase energy efficiency through the installation of double glazing, LED lighting and insulation.
The Department of Justice, based in Greater London, will invest the funds in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The North York Moors National Park Authority has been awarded £489,284 for 2 projects to decarbonise the Moore National Park Centre and the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, which provide visitors with information about the North York Moors National Park, as well as cafes, Bicycle rentals, an art gallery and staff office space.Existing fossil fuel heating systems at both centres will be replaced with ground source heat pumps, and double glazing will be installed to increase the energy efficiency of the buildings.
North Yorkshire Council has been awarded £403,075 to upgrade Castle House Daycare Centre, Malton Library and Nidderdale Children’s Resource Centre.At all sites, older gas boilers will be replaced by air source heat pumps.This work supports the Council’s aspiration to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £2,272,655 to install air source heat pumps in 10 of its buildings, including the main hospital, residences and clinics.In addition, double-glazed windows, attic insulation and cavity wall insulation will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of all buildings.
The Star Multi Academy Trust has been awarded £170,920 to decarbonise the Monk Fryston Church of England Primary School in Leeds.A ground source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing fossil fuel heating system, as well as solar panels to generate renewable electricity and LED lighting to reduce energy consumption.
The University of Bradford was awarded £3,264,681 to install thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in a range of buildings on its city campus, including the unique sports centre and the JB Priestley library.The sports center will install air source heat pumps, solar panels, and point-of-use electric water heaters, as well as improve energy efficiency systems in other buildings by installing LED lighting, roof insulation, and building energy management.
Two projects at the University of Sheffield were awarded £666,491.A ground source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing fossil fuel heating system in the Alfred Denny Building, which houses the University’s biological facilities, and electric heating will be installed in the Elmfield Building, which houses the University’s Department of Politics.
Wakefield Metropolitan Area Council has been awarded £2,028,606 to install air source pumps at the Airedale Children’s Centre, Stanley Library, Queen’s Building, Normanton Leisure Pool and Council offices.City offices will also install solar panels and LED lighting to provide renewable energy and improve energy efficiency.
The Wickersley Partnership Trust has been awarded £252,414 to install thermal decarbonisation and energy saving measures at Aston Lodge Primary School in Sheffield.Air and water source heat pumps and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy.In addition, the energy efficiency of the school will be improved by upgrading the building energy management system.
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £9,073,412 for 2 projects to replace existing oil fired boilers with air source heat pumps at Bridlington Hospital and York Hospital.York Hospital will also install wind protection and improved duct insulation, while Bridlington Hospital will install solar panels, double glazing, heating duct insulation and high-efficiency motors.
The Blackburn Diocese Board of Education has been awarded £5,145,756 to decarbonise and improve the energy efficiency of 12 primary schools.Air source heat pumps will be installed in 10 schools, ground source heat pumps will be installed in the remaining 2 schools, and solar panels will be installed in 4 schools to generate renewable energy.Various other measures will also be installed to improve the school’s energy efficiency, including wind protection, drywall lining, cavity walls, attic and roof insulation, double-glazed windows and LED lighting.
Cheshire College South and West has been awarded £1,942,272 to replace the gas boiler with a new air source heat pump at its sixth form college on the Crewe campus.Solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy, and LED lighting will also be installed to improve energy efficiency.
East Cheshire Council has been awarded £3,714,449 to install thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 3 libraries, 3 council offices and 7 day centres for older people and adults with learning and sensory disabilities provide a range of support services.Air source heat pumps, roof insulation and building energy management systems will be installed in each building, and one office building, Delamere House, will have double-glazed windows.
Cheshire West and Chester Council have been awarded £2,412,421 to upgrade Whitby High School, Frodsham Manor House Primary School and Sutton Green Primary School.Air source heat pumps will be installed with solar panels to provide renewable energy.In addition, the energy efficiency of the building will be improved by installing roof insulation and new LED lighting.The project supports the Council’s ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.
Jolly City Council has been awarded £285,290 to decarbonise Jolly City Hall, a building built in the 1880s with a heating system for over 30 years.The current heating system will be replaced by an air source heat pump and the energy efficiency of the building will be improved by installing double glazing, LED lighting, wind protection, attic insulation and duct insulation.
Cheshire East NHS Trust was awarded £7,039,341 to provide thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at Macclesfield District General Hospital.The hospital’s end-of-life boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and roof insulation, heating pipe insulation and building energy management systems will be installed to improve the hospital’s energy efficiency.
The Greater Manchester Joint Authority has been awarded £15,534,045 to decarbonise buildings in Greater Manchester’s public spaces, including the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, University of Salford, National Football Museum and University of Manchester, as well as various community centres Assets, Libraries, Leisure Centres, Schools, Resource Centres and Offices.Measures to be installed include air source heat pumps, solar panels, building energy management systems, insulation, double glazing and LED lighting.The project is part of Greater Manchester’s 5-year environmental plan, a vision for the region to be carbon neutral by 2038.
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council was awarded £3,481,071 for thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at the Kirkby Leisure Centre and their main council office building, Nutgrove Villa.This includes replacing aging gas boilers with air source heat pumps, as well as installing solar panels and LED lighting.This will contribute to the council’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions across its real estate and services sectors by 2040.
Liverpool Hope University has been awarded £85,000 for the decarbonised Trinity Common Room, which is located in the university’s Eggbers Park accommodation.Decommissioned boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and rooftop solar panels will be installed to produce renewable energy.In addition, double-glazed windows will be installed, and the building’s energy management system will be upgraded to improve energy efficiency.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £521,714 to decarbonise Aintree University Hospital.Air source heat pumps and solar panels will be installed, along with various energy efficiency measures such as insulation, building energy management systems, improved hot water distribution, new LED lighting and double glazing.
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £2,645,311 for 2 projects to decarbonise Rathbone Hospital and 4 health centres and clinics: Moss House, Thomas Leigh, South Sefton Neighbourhood Centre and Life Rooms Walton.Air source heat pumps will be installed at all locations, while solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy.A range of energy efficiency measures will also be installed on the site, including new LED lighting, attic insulation, wind protection, ventilation and heating duct insulation.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded £639,331 to install thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at its headquarters and 4 fire stations: Bromborough, Crosby, Old Swan and Wallasey.Air source heat pumps will be installed in all 4 fire stations, as well as electric heating and building energy management systems.LED lighting will also be installed at their headquarters to improve the energy efficiency of the building in preparation for the future shift to low carbon heating.
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in Sellafield has been awarded £257,472 to decarbonise the Herdus House office building.Existing gas boilers will be replaced by air source heat pumps, and solar panels will also be installed to provide renewable energy for the heat pumps.
South Ribble Borough Council has been awarded £4,968,854 to install thermal decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in the council’s 6 most energy-consuming buildings: Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre, South Ribble Tennis Centre, Penwortham Leisure Centre, Leyland Leisure Centre, Moss Side Warehouse and Civic Centre.Electric heating will be installed at the Moss Side depot and five other buildings will use air source heat pumps instead of gas boilers.The leisure centre and tennis centre will also be fitted with solar panels to provide renewable energy.Various energy efficiency measures will be installed in the building, including new LED lighting, high-efficiency motors, variable speed drives and air handling units.
Tytherington School in Macclesfield was awarded £747,808 to decarbonise its main building and gymnasium by replacing existing gas boilers with air source heat pumps.Solar panels will also be installed to provide renewable energy.
Warrington Borough Council has been awarded £600,564 to replace gas boilers in Warrington Town Hall and annexes, and to install ground source heat pumps on adjacent lawns and parkland.Building energy management systems will also be refined to increase the energy efficiency of buildings.
Winstanley College has been awarded £815,693 to decarbonise their science and arts precinct by installing air source heat pumps and water source heat pumps.Solar panels will also be installed to provide renewable energy.
Wyre Council has been awarded £999,468 to decarbonise one of the North West’s largest markets, Fleetwood Market.The market will install air source heat pumps, eliminating the use of gas; solar panels will be installed; the energy efficiency of the market will be improved by installing LED lighting, double glazing, roof insulation and building energy management systems.
Bassetlaw District Council has been awarded £1,047,500 to fully decarbonise Queens Building, council headquarters and its most energy-intensive properties.The existing heating system will be replaced by an air source heat pump, and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy.The building’s energy efficiency will also be improved through the installation of double-glazed windows, LED lighting, drywall lining, floor and attic insulation, and energy management system upgrades.
Church Hill Church of England Primary School in Leicester has been awarded an award of £325,127 to replace the existing heating system in its main school building with an air source heat pump.Roof-mounted solar panels and building energy management systems will also be installed.
Derbyshire Dales District Council has been awarded £598,596 to replace ageing and inefficient gas boilers in the Town Hall, Agribusiness Centre and Northwood warehouse with air source heat pumps and electric heating.Solar panels will also be installed at the Agribusiness Centre and Northwood Warehouse to provide renewable energy.Duct insulation, LED lighting, double-glazed windows and a smart metering system to manage energy consumption will also be installed.This will help them commit to becoming a net zero council by 2030.
The Evolve Trust has been awarded £328,069 to install an air source heat pump at Bramble College in Mansfield.Solar panels will also be installed to provide renewable energy.
The LEAD Multi-Academy Trust has been awarded £80,000 to decarbonise Edna G Olds Academy in Nottingham by replacing the existing gas heating system with an air source heat pump.
