The building of the St. Annen was built in the 1960s and did not have air conditioning before the upgrade. The rooms at the St. Annen, as well as the lobby, breakfast room and bar, feature stylish wall units specially designed for the R-32. The air conditioner is silent. With Daikin’s integrated green air conditioning technology based on heat pump technology, the St. Annen may also move away from fossil fuels in the future, as the Daikin VRV 5 S heat pump can be used for heating as well as cooling. .
Daikin’s VRV 5 S series of heat pumps not only feature a discreet and compact design, but also deliver lower CO2 equivalents thanks to state-of-the-art low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) R-32 refrigerant and low refrigerant consumption. . The Daikin system will be used to air-condition the hotel, which has an operating area of ​​650 square meters. The new system at the St. Annen has a power of just under 50 kW. Despite comparable system performance, the VRV 5 S has a lower sound pressure level and a 12% increase in efficiency.
A compact outdoor unit (H x W x D: 870 x 1100 x 460 mm) with one fan was installed on the flat roof of the hotel. The modernization project was completed in just two and a half weeks. Thanks to their low noise level, they can be installed on rooftops. Because the St. Annen is located in a densely populated residential area and the requirements for soundproofing are particularly stringent. So-called inverter compressors continuously adjust the compressor speed according to actual demand. This can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.
Daikin VRV 5 S is also unique with factory built-in safety features (Shirudo technology) and runs on R-32 refrigerant. In very rare cases of leakage, the leakage sensor in the indoor unit will detect it immediately. The Madoka remote then activates visual and audible alarms to alert those in the room.
