London, UK – October 11, 2022 – Samsung today announced the UK launch of its most advanced air source heat pump to date, representing a step forward in low carbon heating solutions. The EHS Mono HT Quiet is our next generation high temperature low noise heat pump, ideal at a time when many consumers, home builders and developers are looking to improve the energy efficiency of homes and buildings in the future.
With the UK heat pump market booming, growing by a staggering 64%[i] between 2020 and 2021, it is clear that demand in the UK residential refurbishment market is on the rise. As a leading manufacturer, Samsung provides the industry with durable and stylish low carbon heating solutions, aiming to disrupt the status quo and demonstrate how sustainable heating systems can coexist with the latest developments and innovations in building design.
With so many homes in the UK using radiators that require hot water temperatures of 65°C or higher to efficiently heat a space, it was thought that heat pumps (which typically run between 40°C and 60°C) would not be enough. However, thanks to Samsung’s EHS Mono HT Quiet system, which can continuously provide hot water up to 70°C[ii] for home heating, old gas-fired living spaces can now switch to heat pumps.
Commenting on the launch, Wim Vangeenberg, president of Samsung Electronics AC Europe, said: “With future housing standards requiring new homes in the UK to be future-proof with low-carbon heating by 2025, change is coming and we are likely to see a move away from fossil fuels Accelerating the transition to more energy efficient heat pumps for fuel-fired heating systems High temperature heat pumps offer an interesting alternative to homeowners looking to move away from traditional heating solutions such as gas boilers without sacrificing performance With the new EHS Mono With the launch of HT Quiet, we are proud to helping the UK market take an important step forward by offering an innovative low carbon heating solution.”
Joseph Raftery, Heating Product Manager at Samsung Climate Solutions, added: “HT Quiet is a huge step forward towards sustainable heating and with the right support from government and industry, it will help the UK move towards zero emissions. This corresponds to the temperature of the water leaving the boiler and is our quietest unit. We have also stress tested our new heat pumps to reliably deliver 100% heating efficiency even in very cold weather down to -25°C **[vii] So, this is the technology you can rely on.”
The EHS Mono HT Quiet is the first in Samsung’s premium high temperature heat pump range. It will be available in the UK from early November in three capacities (8, 12 and 14kW) including single-phase and three-phase power systems. All containers will appear in one case.
[ii] Leaving water temperature at outdoor temperature from -15°C to 43°C. Results may vary depending on actual usage conditions
[iii] Based on internal testing of EHS Mono HT outdoor unit. Noise level measured in an anechoic room at an outdoor temperature of 7°C at a distance of 3 m from the front of the outdoor unit. Results may vary based on environmental factors and individual use.
[iv] Based on seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) at 35 ⁰C. Based on tests defined in EN14825. May vary depending on system configuration, temperature and actual usage conditions.
[vi] The current and daily, weekly or monthly energy consumption of the outdoor unit is the calculated reference data and is for reference only.
**Ratio of thermal power efficiency (power) to power consumption (electricity). Internally tested under laboratory conditions in accordance with EN 14511, results may vary depending on actual conditions of use.
[vii] Based on internal testing of EHS Mono HT outdoor unit (AE120BXYDGG) and EHS conventional outdoor unit (AE120RXYDGG). Results may vary depending on actual usage conditions
